The game could have been so much more if efforts with it had been a little bit more focused.Welcome to the world of Random, a dark kingdom where the future of every citizen is determined by the roll of a dice. If you’re short on money and want to get Lost in Random for free, there are a couple of ways for you to try: You can create a price alert on GG.deals and set your price as free. On the Switch, it really can look atrocious a lot of the time, but I put up with it for the most part as it's the "Switch tax" I guess. Players can easily get 12 hours of gameplay out of Lost in Random so it is. I didn't end up finishing Lost in Random, as I thought it dragged on for way too long with its mediocre gameplay mechanics and subpar visuals. Lost in Random is a fun game to play through but falls short of becoming a must-have. The first time you stumble upon a weird and quirky character design, you think "wow, that's a cool idea for a character", but when you encounter the same character model being used for the 8th time, you'd wish they'd stuck with just the one character to have it be really unique. It lacks quality in all departments (visuals, sounds, gameplay) and there is a lot of fat that could be trimmed, in order to make it a more tight and effective package. This, combined with its Tim Burton-esque look makes for an interesting world, but the developer sadly stretched themselves thin over too long a game. The world of Lost in Random is really interesting, with hierarchys and towns based on the six sides on a die. (Shout-out to for keeping this game on my radar!) 0 If you're a fan of other Zoink games, Henry Selick movies or Psychonauts, definitely give Lost in Random a shot! But I'd be lying if I said any of that lessened my enjoyment in a meaningful way. Some sections of dialog are maybe a tad long-winded. I'd love to be able to easily revisit past areas to knock out those last few trophies. My player character and the camera would occasionally get stuck on some geometry. I did notice a few minor flaws along the way. But as you gain more cards and learn how best to combine them in battle, you can unleash some devastating combinations that I found really satisfying to pull off. You start out with very few options, and it can feel a little tedious to gather the gems needed to roll your dice and do some damage. Random is a beautifully realized world I wanted to see every twisted asymmetric corner of.Īt first, I was afraid the combat was going to lose me. Having played and enjoyed Stick It to the Man! and Flipping Death, it was a treat to see Klaus Lyngeled's warped yet cartoony art direction applied to a full 3-D adventure.
